"Pinched nerve" is one of those phrases everyone uses but few can define. In plain terms, it means a nerve is being compressed or irritated — often by a disc, bone, or tight muscle — and it's not happy about it.

How it feels

Compressed nerves tend to cause more than just local pain. You might feel numbness, tingling, burning, or weakness that travels away from the source — down an arm or leg, for example. That radiating pattern is a clue to what's going on.

Relieving the pressure

The goal of care is simple: take the pressure off the nerve. Depending on the cause, that might mean adjustments, spinal decompression, or soft-tissue work — and often a combination. Once the nerve has room to breathe, symptoms typically ease.
